PArty Tents

On the build up to Pascals Party I have had the idea to make tents out of excess quilted fabric. As the time draws near to perfect the concoction, I realise my ideas will come out more like the boy in his tent then the circus fabrication I have in my mind. Simultaneously I have been working on the paper hot air balloons. I will show you photos in the morning. Ahh babies, Ahh love!

Wool Quilts

I have produced a selection of wool quilts that are feature pieces to be used on beds and furniture. As I have found myself overwhelmed with the immensity of the task of promoting these quilts and photgraphing them while both my boys celebrate there birthdays 7 and 1. I have chosen to leave this task until next week once I have enjoyed my family and very much celebrated their birthdays, for each were special and very, very memorable.

A view into the new quilts

Finally, the quilts have arrived!!!! in a selection of Queen and Single and some cots, polyester quilts with classic vintage fabrics resourced from the finest local op shops in the land. Yet to be trimmed these quilts were put on family beds today (while donnas were tossed aside). They will be available to you via the christmas markets Abbotsford Convent on Friday nights and the rose St artist market on Saturdays. Each are original and one off. They were very time consuming so I hope you are able to appreciate the detail put into them. A work in progress I am happy with the results.

a mix

I am finishing a quilt for friends of mine and it is taking longer than I would have hoped. Therefore I haven't been able to document the new quilts for your perusal. For now look at this great website, hunter + gather. Its a textile feast. This photo in particular reminds me of the weight of the quilts. The physicality of construction must be admired.

Had a great day at the Thread Den market. Met a lot of sweet people and got a lot a great compliments. It helps, I tell you. It's not easy running a business on your own. That kind of feedback can make a world of difference.

That's why when I was desperate (as I was today) for some shorts for my son. I headed down to Rose St Market to see the women who makes the best boyz bell shorts. And here they are, I am so happy I purchased them. They're from the creative mum behind Bobbins 'n Bliss, check out her store here. Look at her beautiful babies in those sweet hats, adorable. While there I also had an encounter with Deborah of Mer - made. This is a very talented women. Love those details of the trims and stitches. Check out herweb site with the winter range, very inspiring. There are many talented women running small business and small families. Speaking of which.

It has been a hard week, I can't seem to get my camera to work and my son Noah is verging on big changes turning 7 and showing it. While my other son, Pascal is turning 1 and is all over EVERYTHING, including me. He can't get enough of his own independence from eating, to hitting the buttons first and using me to stand when I need to walk, poking me eyes ad biting my lips. Along with doing 3 markets in a week, getting stock ready for Christmas rush, planning the boyz b'daze I needed some let down. We headed for the Northcote pool!!! yeh!. Fantastic a lovely way to end the day. With recent purchases easing the pressures of my two children's birthdays (3 days apart!), I think I have it under control. Hope you all have been enjoying the weather.
