Arriving at Torquay Bells Beach - We ended a relax on the beach with a beer at the local surf lifesavers pub! It was an unusual day as Noah has a cut on his foot that became quite infected - the life guards bandaged it up and we went to the doctors in the morning to get antibiotics.

I know she has worked very hard on this house over the last year and i just wanted to celebrate that with her, from her charms collected over many years, her prints, photos and frames, dear old and new furniture. Proud of what I do

I just got back from traveling, well hoildaying as we call it in Australia, and feel great, relaxed, happy wished it was longer, so so pleases with the company we kept and the new people we met ohh and did I mention the paradise we went to? Well no cause this post is about what I do.... as I am rather chuffed I came back with a sense of calm with where I am at at the mo, and immensely proud of 'what I do' which surprises me. I teach and blog and find some time to be creative which feels at the moment kinda great.
I include this Utube video which illustrates the point or power of education, and link to this blog which is also a little about it... and it enthuses me I have faith in my ideas and dreams and somehow they will all work out. I accidentally hit my class blog when I got home, (after many hours of unpacking) and just decided to share it with you, because I realized how invested I am and how proud I ma of what I do and the children I teach... I can't WAIT for this year 2012 ... I know I won't speak of it again, so right now is the time to show what I do and why Im proud of it. I hope to add a whole lot more of activity to this list in the future as I know I am only working on half steam with full commitment. Its the commitment that taking the energy but it won't always be this way as things change over time,

I took so time off to take Noah to Philip Island a retreat before his birthday before I started reports, cause I know the work toll had taken alot of out me and my family. This was my I love you song to Noah and then Pascal had his own. This place is really special to my family. It is a friends house and a quiet retreat with Bell noises and a beautiful walking distance between Woolamai Front and Back Beach - blessed!

Dirk and I made a feature wall for the lounge room its one of the few joint projects we have produced and I am excited it could be the first of many more. I love it especially the smell of oiled wood when I walk in the door - it is perfect for the hallway and I think it's special cause it reminds us of the workshop. We started cleaning out the shed, which Pascqui thought was a good place to play with his friend. I love the last photo overlooking the garden, reminding me of the window I have never gotten around to cleaning.

Wer'd the Rainbow go

Paskie decided to sit out the front and watch the ' ' actually I don't know what he decided to watch, but he doesn't like TV and prefers to be involved copying, watching or hearing something so he left the lounge room at 7 on Saturday and sat outside.. these are the kind of things he was looking at. In fact there was a big rain that fell and the beautiful twilight light I adore which was fortunate cause there was also a rainbow, which then disappeared. Its good to see Paskie self satisfying although I do want him to have more mates his age playing with him at his house - just hope I can find a way for this to happen with my limited parenting time?

When I picked the roses (which I don't like roses) he asked to smell and it and said thats beautiful, he draws me in which his perspective always and he is my gardening buddy

Today was Noah's school fete the usual fair was eaten played with and bought. We picked up some fantastic books for our German family the atmosphere was great although I was a bit over the heat and the lack of contacts - I hope to have a better balance and more time for the kids so they can see my and Dirks interconnectedness, which isn't so interconnected at present!

I am so proud of Dirk, we just got the Vogue Living for November and there it is the Broached Commission Designs, pg 116 with 2 pieces that Dirk constructed and the workshop as a backdrop to all work, particularly proud of seeing Lucy Mc Rae's work in his workshop and are devilishly excited to attend the opening next Thursday!!

Recently we have framed some of our favourite works and gifts. The top photos are of the wall hangings I made the boys to hold books and treasures. In Noah's room is a print of Nathan Gray, beautiful paintings by Lucreccia Quintanilla, photos of Noah from my exhibit 'Works Backyard'. Paskie loves the workshop, I find it a bit of a challenge cause there is a lot of machinery there can could be a problem. I have to watch him and his friend like a hawk, but as Dirk says it is safer to know what they can use and not use rather then them not being there at all. Mostly there is ALOT of safe play.

They like to stir each other up which bothers me but the fact that it bothers me is why they stir each other up! I love their beauty, I was in Dirk's workshop tonight looking at old photos and there are so many ages of transitions I have all but forgotten. These photos were taken by my father he loves photography too, I think thats where I got it from, he has a Sony camera with Automatic focus, I dont thats why mine are a little dodgy! I should do something about that one day.

Fringe Furniture

Last week attended the Fringe Furniture exhibition at Abbotsford Convent. Dirk wasn't exhibiting but his team did make the back drop the string nail art tribute.

They are starting to do great work together.

This was taken as a tribute to my students work at school we are focusing on fulfilling a design brief to make a portable structure that fits in a trolley, this was used as inspiration.

This was my favourite piece a chandelier made on spring mattresses by Sally Mills.

It was a date and the overall opening of the Fringe was very exciting.
